The 400-meter-tall, cube-shaped Mukaab supertall skyscraper in Riyadh, designed by AtkinsRéalis, is now under construction and will be the most prominent structure in the world when it is finished.
According to its development company, Mukaab is officially under construction, with excavations already underway. It was intended to be the focal point of the 19-square-kilometer New Murabba development in northwest Riyadh.
According to the developer, New Murabba Development Company, financed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in Saudi Arabia, the site’s groundwork is currently 86% finished.

The Mukaab skyscraper, designed by AtkinsRéalis, will have 400-meter-long edges and a cube shape. Standing 400 meters tall, it will be the city’s tallest skyscraper and a supertall skyscraper, which is a more than 300 meters high structure.
According to the news website Bloomberg, it will be the “largest built structure in the world” and the most significant building ever constructed. It will replace the Boeing Everett Factory in the USA as the largest structure in the world.
A massive, nearly full-height atrium with a spiraling tower at its center will be housed inside the cube. Two million square meters of retail space, cultural landmarks, and tourist attractions will round the skyscraper.
A unique exterior of overlapping triangular shapes that refers to the contemporary Najdi architectural style will envelop the cube.
When finished, Mukaab will be the focal point of the New Murabba development, which is being built as the capital city of Saudi Arabia’s new downtown.
Over 100,000 residences, 980,000 square meters of retail space, 1.4 million square meters of commercial space, hotels, cultural institutions, a university, an immersive theater, and an “iconic” museum are all part of New Murabba, according to its creators.
As part of the nation’s Vision 2030 ambition to diversify its economy, the project is expected to be finished by 2030 and financed by the Public Investment Fund.
