Corey Perry Joins Kings as Veteran Forward

Veteran forward Corey Perry signs with the LA Kings, bringing experience and depth to the roster ahead of the upcoming NHL season.

According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, veteran forward Corey Perry has joined the Los Angeles Kings.

The 40-year-old Perry’s tenure with the rival Anaheim Ducks is, of course, what made him most famous. The Peterborough, Ontario native spent 14 years in Orange County, scoring 372 goals and 776 points in 988 games.

In addition, he claimed the Rocket Richard and Hart Trophies in 2010–11 and assisted the squad in winning its first Stanley Cup in 2007.

He now wears black and silver rather than black and orange when he returns to Southern California.

A Veteran on the Move Again

Perry’s journey since departing the Ducks in 2019 has been quite the one. Despite his age, he has been a rather successful player during his tenure with the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, and Edmonton Oilers.

Additionally, he has been in five of the last six Stanley Cup Finals, yet he has somehow lost each one.

With 10 goals, second only to Leon Draisaitl on the Oilers, and 14 points in 22 games, Perry has shown that he still has some energy left in the tank this postseason.

Unfortunately, it was insufficient as the Oilers suffered their second consecutive loss to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final.

A New Chapter with the Kings

Since Edmonton eliminated Los Angeles from the playoff in the first round each of the last four years, Perry will join the other Kings in seeking revenge against the Oilers.
