McDonald’s Nostalgia Boost: Collectible Cups Drop Announced

McDonald’s is reviving collections with a new combo meal and unique cup designed to “unlock core memories.”

The McDonald Collector’s Meal will include six unique Collectible Cups, which will be sold at participating McDonald’s locations.

The fast food restaurant wants consumers to make new memories inspired by the designs on the Collectible Cups, forcing them to seek the “unquestionable joy” of finding an unusual design or finishing a collection, according to company CEO Morgan Flatley in a news release.

“We’re bringing back some of our most-loved keepsakes with a surprise, giving consumers a memory they can grasp in their hand,” Flatley told reporters.

“These new McDonald’s Collector’s Meal Cups remember some of our most unforgettable designs and international partnerships over the years, allowing loyal supporters to relive beloved moments and helping youngsters make their lasting memories.”

McDonald’s is taking the collecting craze a step further, offering consumers the option of trying out an augmented reality experience or travelling to New York City or Los Angeles for personal collector experiences.

When will the McDonald’s Collector’s Meal be available?

McDonald’s Collector’s Meal and six collector cups will be available at participating U.S. locations beginning Tuesday, August 13, online, in stores, and at the drive-thru.

What does McDonald’s Collector’s Meal include?

If you go to McDonald’s during morning hours, you may buy the Collector’s Meal, which includes a sausage and egg sandwich, hash browns, and a steaming coffee.

A Collector’s Meal bought at lunch provides consumers additional options, including a 10-piece nugget or Big Mac, fries, and a drink.

McDonald’s says the Collector’s Meal will be available all day, so you can add to your collection whenever you like.

The designs chosen for the fast-food chain’s new collection of collector cups are a throwback to a period when childhood toys and McDonald’s dinners were among life’s basic pleasures.

The cups were created to honor historical keepsakes, “the heart of fans’ McDonald’s experiences,” such as the 1998 Cowpoke McNugget Buddy and the 1993 McDonald’s Dragster.
