Two other Braves were nominated for awards, but none won. Marcell Ozuna was selected for the National League Outstanding Player Award, and Max Fried for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award.

Unsurprisingly, Ozuna fell to Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani, while Fried lost to Hoskins.

The winners were announced during the World Series pregame show on Fox before Game 2.

Sale continues to receive honors for his comeback season. A few days before, Sporting News named him the National League Comeback Player of the Year. In addition, he won the National League’s first pitching Triple Crown in 2011. His peers on the diamond have now appreciated his efforts.

In 2024, Sale went 18-3 with a 2.38 ERA and 225 strikeouts, capturing the Triple Crown. He also had a 1.01 WHIP, a 174 ERA+, and was selected to his eighth career All-Star team.

The Major League Baseball Players Association has hosted the Players Choice Awards since 1992.
