The Indian cricket team won the T20 World Cup 2024 championship by defeating South Africa in the final in Barbados on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Virat Kohli stopped his bad run of form by scoring 76 runs as India scored a massive total of 176 while batting first before bowlers made a late return to limit the South Africans to 169 at Kensington Oval.
After guiding India to its joint-highest second T20 World Cup victory, star bowler Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance.
Bumrah won the competition with a match-winning effort in the final, taking 15 wickets in eight innings.
Arshdeep Singh also made history by taking three wickets in the final, bringing his total to 17 wickets in eight innings, the highest in any edition of the competition.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan ended as the highest run-scorer with 281 runs after leading his side to a thrilling semi-final victory.
