US Wins First Gold Medal in Paris Olympics 2024 Men’s 4x100m Freestyle


US wins first gold at Paris Olympics 2024 in Men's 4x100m Freestyle Relay, marking a historic start to the games.

The United States USA wins first gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a superb performance in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay on Saturday.

The team, which included Jack Alexy, Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong, and Caeleb Dressel, finished 1.07 seconds ahead of Australia’s silver medal team. Italy earned bronze.

Team USA has win gold in this event in ten of the past thirteen Olympics. This is Dressel’s sixth Olympic gold.

Earlier Saturday, Sarah Bacon, 27, and Kassidy Cook, 29, won silver in the 3-meter synchronized springboard competition, giving the United States – US wins first medal in 2024 Summer Olympics Paris.

The American couple scored 314.64 points, putting them in second place after Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen from China.

Katie Ledecky won bronze in the women’s 400-meter freestyle.

Katie Ledecky failed to recover gold in the women’s 400-meter freestyle on Saturday, as Australian Ariarne Titmus successfully defended her Olympic championship.

Titmus, often known as “The Terminator,” defeated Ledecky for the second time in a row in the Paris La Défense Arena, following his victory in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Titmus, with her fingernails painted Aussie yellow, took the lead from the outset. She faced her most difficult competition, Canadian prodigy Summer McIntosh, but won handily in 3 minutes, 57.49 seconds.

McIntosh won the silver medal in 3:58.37. Ledecky behind them and finished in 4:00.86 for bronze.

After Saturday’s race, the highly accomplished Ledecky has six individual gold medals, the most for a female swimmer in Olympic history. Her third-place finish is her 11th total Olympic medal.

Titmus now has three individual Olympic victories on her record. She won the 200 and 400 freestyle events in Tokyo, defeating Ledecky, and is expected to repeat in Paris.

Ledecky is not done yet. She declined a chance to face Titmus again in the 200 free, but the American is anticipated to win gold in both the 800 and 1,500 events.

The United States won silver in the women’s relay. Team USA achieved the silver medal in the 4×100-meter swimming relay, but lost to Australia. China earned bronze.

Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh, Torri Huske, and Simone Manuel set a new American record in the race, finishing in 3:30.20.

The timing was just under two seconds slower than Australia’s 3:28.92, a new Olympic record and the country’s fourth consecutive Olympic triumph in the event.

The Australians, who hold the world record in the race, also have the previous Olympic record time of 3:29.69, established in Tokyo.

So far, the United States has earned five medals: one gold, two silver, and two bronze. Chloe Dygert, an American cyclist, won bronze in the women’s fastest individual trial in road cycling.
