The Paris 2024 Olympics will build on this success by refining the structure and increasing athlete exposure.

One notable change for the Paris Olympics 2024 is the split of Speed Climbing Combined into its medal event, whereas Bouldering and Lead Climbing will be combined into one discipline.

This change enables climbers to specialize and focus on their talents, resulting in more challenging and entertaining contests.

According to the Olympics website, “The world’s best 68 men’s and women’s sport climbing combined athletes will compete at the 2024 Olympic Games Paris, from August 5-10.” This rapidly expanding sport will now have twice as many medal prospects as in Tokyo 2020, when sport climbing made its Olympic debut.

The two medal events are now speed and bouldering/lead combined. Forty athletes will compete in bouldering and leading, while 28 men and women will compete in speed.
