Fighting
Ukraine’s military said that its forces had driven Russian soldiers out of an area in the strategically crucial town of Chasiv Yar on the war’s eastern border.
Russia, however, claimed that its forces had damaged a communications tower near the town and made significant progress.
Alexander Bastrykin, the chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee, stated that the government had deployed around 10,000 naturalized citizens for battle in Ukraine and was clamping down on individuals who had gained Russian citizenship but had not registered with military authorities.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence said it started missile attacks on Ukrainian airfields that it thinks are intended for taking in Western military aircraft. It stated that the attacks were effective but did not disclose any specifics.

Politics and Diplomacy
Ukraine and the European Union have written a security give to assure long-term assistance for Kyiv, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged EU leaders to keep their commitments to send military equipment, particularly air defense systems.
Lithuania and Estonia have reached security agreements with Ukraine.
Jordan Bardella, who may become French prime minister if the extreme-right National Rally (RN) wins the national assembly election, stated in a debate that he will “not allow Russian imperialism to take over an associate state like Ukraine.”

The RN is now expected to win the polls, which will take place on June 30 and July 7.
Sri Lanka has requested Russia to enable its former troops fighting for Russia against Ukraine to come home freely, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement following two days of negotiations in Moscow.
It also demanded compensation for 17 Sri Lankans killed in the Russia Ukraine conflict.
A Russian court in the occupied Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea condemned a man in his early thirties to 12 years in jail after finding him guilty of “high treason” for recording Russian military locations to help Ukraine’s armed forces, according to Russian news media.

Weapons
The Czech Republic asked more donors to join its campaign to deliver weapons to Ukraine, saying that further donations were required to accomplish its goals.
The strategy presently involves 18 nations, and Prague announced earlier this week that the first consignment of weapons purchased under the program, 155mm rounds, had arrived in Ukraine.
