Following criticism of Keir Starmer’s “cruel and unnecessary” policies and the prime minister’s “administrative and technocratic approach” to politics, Rosie Duffield Labour MP, resigned from the parliamentary party.
The Canterbury MP, Rosie Duffield, expressed her relief in a furious letter announcing the outcome.
She claimed that “sleaze, nepotism, and apparent avarice are off the scale” in light of the controversy surrounding the freebies given to Keir Starmer and his elite squad.

This is rumored to be the quickest-ever resignation of a party whip by an MP following an election in modern times.
The outrage of Rosie Duffield’s Labour MP resignation would be an additional blow to the prime minister amid critiques of his early months in Downing Street, even if she had been loud in her opposition to Keir Starmer on multiple occasions.
Rosie Duffield Labour MP expressed her dismay at prominent Labor officials taking presents from Lord Alli, saying that they have “tarnished and humiliated our once proud party.”
She also launched a vicious attack on Starmer’s choice to make unpleasant choices to curb spending, mainly focusing on reducing pensioner winter fuel payments and the unwillingness to eliminate the benefit cap of two children.
“This is completely unfit for someone holding the title of Labour prime minister—an individual with above-average wealth choosing to uphold the Conservatives’ two-child limit on benefit payments, which perpetuates child poverty, while unexpectedly accepting lavish personal gifts like designer suits and glasses that cost more than most of these individuals can comprehend,” the letter stated.
“Forcing a vote to make many older people iller and colder while you and your favorite colleagues enjoy free family trips to events most people would have to save hard for – why are you not showing even the slightest bit of embarrassment?” she said, criticizing Starmer’s decision to force his MPs to vote against a Conservative motion opposing the cut to winter fuel payments.
She announced that she would sit as an independent MP and resign as whip with “immediate effect.” In addition to incensed about Labour policies, Rosie Duffield Labour MP was critical of Keir Starmer’s political acumen and leadership style, implying that he had taken a naive approach.

As prime minister, she stated, “After we worked so hard, promised so much, and waited a long 14 years authorized by the British public to return to power, your leadership style and technical approach, and lack of basic politics and political emotions, have come crashing down on us as a party.”
The amount of hypocrisy exposed since the July government transition has been astonishing and progressively more ridiculous.
The anger my coworkers and I feel towards your complete lack of comprehension over how you have portrayed us all is beyond words.
Even if Duffield’s complaints are by far the loudest aired by a Labour official in public, some may find them similar to those made by Labour MPs and ministers during last week’s party conference in private.
Some devastated about Keir Starmer’s failure to squash rumors regarding freebies and Sue Gray, his chief of staff,’s salary. Some saw it as a sign that, once Labour’s famous campaign to unseat the Tories was successful, he had failed to establish a coherent agenda while in power.
Rosie Duffield Labour MP, though, will probably come under fire from his former colleagues for leaving the party barely two months after elected under its banner. Regarding gender and transgender rights, she has a history of disagreements with the leadership.
